In the spring of 2014, my fiancé and I started learning about animal tracking. Before going to bed he would read me a few pages of our animal tracking book. We learned about sit spot.
You find a place somewhere you can still still for long periods of time and observe the nature around you. The more you return to your sit spot, the more you start noticing little details and seeing animals.
It turns out that ours is the Montreal's Botanical Garden. That was unexpected. We had the chance to see some pretty exciting animals. We went to Mont-Royal in Montreal and met a sweet raccoon up close.
Funny enough, not long after, a racoon came to our house for a nice nap in our maple tree.
In the middle of the First Nations Garden at the Botanical garden, tit mouse birds landed on our hands. They are extremely cute. Later on, a lady gave us a few sunflower seeds and then they were really all over!
We had an absolutely great time when we went camping at Parc de la Mauricie. A large woodpecker greeted us. Never seen one this big before.
One oft he best sighting was this morning, again at the Botanical garden. A family of 5 foxes live there. In the Japanese garden, one of the young one was running around, hiding pieces of a rabbit he just caught. I was surprised I was not too affected by the state of the bunny. I am generally very sensitive about that type of thing. I came close to us, probably looking to see if we were to give him any food. He was magnificent.
We completed our morning visit with feeding more tit mouse birds with fallen cranberries, a brown creeper and a small buzzard hawk.
We got the chance to see many more, but that will be for another post. :)
Leave a comment if you ever had a nice encounter with an animal.
Until next time!
Who Am I? I'm many things. I'm passionate about tons of stuff. I love travel. I love self-improvement. I'm a sucker for optimization, efficiency, and minimalism. I renewed with mathematics and science, those are so amazing. Astronomy and chemistry are just plain awesome! I'm a student, a mentor, a traveler, a learner, an artist, an animator, and Disney brings me tears of joy! I love to grow and I will never stop! So who am I? All that and everything else I have not discovered about myself yet. It's a never ending answer!
